We wondered why that may be. Turns out, it's National Grilled Cheese Day! As for correlation of the data worldwide, the trend of grilled cheese searches almost parallels the trend of tomato soup searches. Uncanny! The average (looking at the left), of each search is almost equal! However, as we move towards present day, there is an increasing amount of grilled cheese searches in comparison to tomato soup searches.

In the United States, grilled cheese searches are definitively more freuquent than tomato soup searches. This may be because grilled cheese has become increasingly popular as a sandwich. There are numerous grilled cheese food trucks and upscale grilled cheese-based restaurants. Heck there's even National Grilled Cheese Day! It has become an American favorite. However, as September rolls around, the trends begin to closely correlate, and even overlap. Why might this be? Perhaps there's a movement towards having a warm soup and sandwich as winter comes.

In California, the amount grilled cheese searches for most of the 6 months is almost double the amount of tomato soup searches! Who knew so many Californians like grilled cheese? Around the end of August, there is a mysterious drop in tomato soup searches. The ratio of grilled cheese searches to tomato soup searches here is a whopping 23 to 2!
